Trick or Treat

Yes, you’re in for a real treat! The very fact that you’re reading this is a treat indeed. The point is this, you are alive and well. How many people do you know who are not alive today? Every day in the news we hear of old and young, big and small who have had their lives cut short either through natural or unnatural causes. Yet you are alive today, well and strong; that is a treat indeed! How often do we take the daily mercies of God for granted? Some of us travel and get back safely, but many never do. Sure you can recall the victims of 11 September 2001. It could have been you in any of those planes or buildings.

You have a roof over your head; there are many out there who don’t. You have food to eat and clothes to put on. There are many out there who don’t.

The Greatest Treat

Can I tell you the greatest treat of all? Listen! Some 2000 years ago, a Saviour was born into the world. His name is Jesus. The celebration of Christmas is all about Him!

Why did He come? He came to show us how to live in this world. To show us that it is really possible for us to live in this world as God meant it to be. Most importantly, He lived to die, so that you and I will never have to suffer eternal condemnation. This is what Easter is all about. Jesus died and rose again.

The truth is, whether we believe it or not, we shall die one day and leave this world, and stand before God to give account of how we lived our lives on earth.

What is the trick?

There is a devil out there that is playing a big TRICK on many. He deceives people into believing there is no heaven or hell; that it’s all in your mind.

He even goes as far as telling some there is no God. It’s all a fantasy.

The sad thing however is that many have fallen for his TRICK. And that is why we see nothing wrong with promoting witchcraft in the form of Halloween. Perhaps it is because we do not know or have not experienced the horrors of witchcraft. However, it is one thing to watch a film about war but it is another thing to have the experience of war. When you have had a real experience with what witches can do, obviously you would not see anything worth celebrating about witches on a so-called Halloween night.

The Choice !!!

Now you have a choice – to enjoy God’s TREAT in the Salvation He offers through His Son, Jesus Christ, or to continue to fall for the TRICK of the devil, which is to reject God’s offer of salvation. But know this for sure, that whatever choice you make NOW will determine your eternal destiny. The Bible (God’s Word) says, “What is your life? It is but a vapour that appears for a little while and vanishes away”. It also says ‘It is appointed unto men and women to die once, and after this comes God’s judgement’.

Now you ask, how can I enjoy God’s salvation TREAT? It is very simple. In fact; as simple as A, B, C, D…

A – Admit you are a sinner; for the Bible says ‘ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God’ and that the wages of sin is DEATH’ (Romans 3:10, 23; 6:23). So, it doesn’t matter whether you believe it or not, the Bible says everyone is a sinner.

B – Believe that Jesus paid the price for your sins. God made a Way for the salvation of everyman through the death of Christ on the Cross; and there is no other way (John 3:16; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 5:1-12)

C – Confess your sins to God and ask Him to forgive you. The Bible says, ‘if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves …’ but if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness’ (1 John 1: 8-9; Isaiah 43:25)

D – Decide to make Him Lord (put Him in charge) of your life. Give up your evil ways and accept the new life that He gives. The Bible says “if anyone is in Christ, s(he) is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:14-17).

You can also say this simple prayer and believe it with all your heart.

“Dear Lord Jesus, I do realise that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I thank you for taking the punishment for my sins. I’m sorry for every sin I have committed and ask you to forgive me. Wash me with your precious blood, and cleanse me from all my sins. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus. I gladly receive you as my Lord and Saviour”. Amen.
