I never told Him

I had visited his surgery several times in the past. He was a very lovely GP and all his patients loved him. However, this particular visit was different. I had gone with my mum to his surgery for her blood test. As a matter of fact because the nurses had difficulty locating my mum’s veins, he was able to carry out the procedure successfully. We laughed and shared some jokes. It was a Friday morning and we were to report the following week for the result of the test.

We arrived at the surgery a week later, as required. There was a notice on the door to the main entrance of the surgery stating “we regret to inform you that Dr … passed away on Wednesday …” I was shocked beyond belief. It wasn’t surprising to see that all the nurses had red swollen eyes from prolonged weeping. Some patients came in with cards and flowers. It was obvious they had heard the news much earlier. I just sat in the surgery and wept like a baby. My mum who was also with me could not understand why I was so deeply affected. When she asked me, I said to her “mum, I never told him about the Lord; now he’s gone, I’d never be able to do so”. This very thought crushed and brought such deep pain to my soul. It is true one can claim that a busy surgery is not the best place to share the good news with one’s GP. What a flimsy excuse! As the Bible asks, “what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” What is more important in this world than to tell a person how to escape God’s eternal judgement?

Dear reader, the mere fact of you reading this little tract gives you a rare opportunity that my late GP never had. He never heard from me how much God loved and cared for his eternal soul. Now you can read and do something about it. My message is very simple; God loves you and has made provision for your salvation. This is why at Christmas we celebrate the birth of the Saviour, Jesus Christ; and at Easter, we remember His death and resurrection.

The point is that life is very short. As a matter of fact, the Bible asks, “what is your life? It is a vapour that appears for a little while and vanishes away” (James 4: 14). No one can tell what will happen the next second. This is why we have to be absolutely certain where we hope to spend eternity when we leave this world. The Bible says “it is appointed to man to die once, after this comes the judgement” (Hebrews 9: 27).

It is true that some do not believe in God, or in heaven or hell. Unfortunately that does not change anything. It will be too late to die suddenly and then find out that God truly exists and that heaven and hell are real.  It is the work of faith. Everyday we take chances by faith, like boarding a plane and trusting the skills of the pilot to take us safely to our destination. Right now you have a unique opportunity and privilege to prepare for eternity. Just think of it, God has made it easy for you by asking you to PAY NOTHING; simply believe and take the following steps, as simple as  A, B, C, D:

A – Admit you are a sinner; for the Bible says ‘ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God’ and that the wages of sin is DEATH’ (Romans 3:10, 23; 6:23). So, whether any one believes it or not, the Bible says all men are sinners.

B – Believe that Jesus paid the price for your sins. God made a Way for the salvation of every one through the death of Christ on the Cross; and there is no other way (John 3:16; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 5:1-12)

C – Confess your sins to God and ask Him to forgive you. The Bible says, ‘if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves …’ but if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness’ (1 John 1: 8-9; Isaiah 43:25)

D – Decide to make Him Lord (put Him in charge) of your life. Give up your evil ways and accept the new life that He gives. The Bible says “if anyone is in Christ, s(he) is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:14-17).

You can also say this simple prayer RIGHT NOW and invite Jesus into your life:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I do realise that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I thank you for taking the punishment for my sins. I’m sorry for every sin I’ve committed and ask you to forgive me. Wash me with your precious blood, and make me clean within. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus. I gladly receive you as my Lord and Saviour”. Amen.

If you have prayed this simple prayer, we congratulate you, and would be glad to know about it so that we can send you some helpful literature. In the mean time, find your self a good Bible believing Church and start to attend regularly. This is the start of a brand new experience for you in God. Your old life is gone; you’re now a brand new person, a member of God’s holy family.
