We Need Insurance for things that Matter to Us

Perhaps like me you have insurance policies for almost everything you own - your home, contents, car, pets, travel, etc. etc. Footballers have to insure their legs, businesses insure their businesses, employers must have insurance policies in place to protect their employees. Indeed, we insure things that are precious to us against theft or damage.

It isn't that we take on these policies because we expect anything to happen but because we live in a world full of uncertainties. Hence we insure things that are precious or important to us so that if we should lose them, we can be compensated. The reality of course is that these policies are not necessarily cheap. If we add up what we pay on insurance policies each month, for some of us, it'll range from £350 to £2,500 per month depending on our individual circumstances. For example, critical illness insurance ranges from £230 to £450 per month depending on your age and other health issues. Some of us also have life insurance so that when we die the policy can be used to take care of our funeral expenses and other financial commitments that we might have, including taking care of our loved ones when we're gone.

The Most Important Insurance

Isn't it strange that many of us are willing to pay so much for different insurance policies and yet some of us do not have the MOST IMPORTANT insurance policy, which ironically is FREE. That is, the INSURANCE FOR YOUR SOUL. This insurance policy is FREE because someone else (Jesus) paid the price for you with His own life. Many of us do not have this insurance policy either because we are not aware of it, or because we do not know how to take on this policy. Some of us pay costly insurance for which we have never made a claim. But at least we have the peace of mind of knowing that the policy is in place.

Can you imagine travelling without any travel insurance and then something goes wrong during your trip, like cancellations, delays or even theft of your luggage? I know a young man who moved house recently and didn't think he needed any contents insurance for his belongings. Sadly, some guys broke into his home and stole a lot of his very precious and priced possessions. He regretted not having any insurance policy in place. Whereas, we may never make a claim on some of our insurance policies, if nothing goes wrong, there is definitely going to be a claim on each of our lives.

Death is Certain

EVERY ONE OF US WILL DIE someday, and that is a fact that can never be denied. As a matter of fact, we live in a world where evil is so prevalent and uncertainties have become the norm that death can come to any of us ANYTIME.

Why would you be willing to pay so much for insurance policies for material things and not take on the MOST IMPORTANT one, especially WHEN IT COSTS NOTHING? Death is one thing that is certain to happen and when we die our souls can go to either of two places - HEAVEN or HELL. What happens if you don't believe there's hell and you die and find out that it's true? It will be too late to do anything about it then. Don't be like the guy who failed to insure his goods and when they got stolen, he had nowhere to turn. He had to suffer the pain of his foolishness for not insuring his property. But let me assure you of one thing, hell and heaven are real!

Today, I'm offering you the opportunity to take on your FREE insurance policy. How do you go about it? It's as simple as A,B,C,D:

A – Admit you are a sinner. That is, agree your life has been a mess and that you need God to sort it out ; for the Bible (God’s word) says we have all sinned and fallen below God’s expectations and that the consequence of sin is DEATH, eternal separation from God. (Romans 3:10, 23; 6:23). So, whether any one believes it or not, the Bible says all men are sinners.

B – Believe that Jesus, God’s own Son paid the price to save you from your sins. God made a Way for the salvation of every one through the death of Christ on the Cross; and there is no other way (John 3:16; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 5:1-12)

C – Confess your sins to God and ask Him to forgive you. That is, tell God you’re sorry for the bad things you’ve ever done. The Bible says, ‘if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves …’ but if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness’ (1 John 1: 8-9; Isaiah 43:25)

D – Decide to make Him Lord (put Him in charge) of your life. That is, let Him take over your life from this minute.  Give up your evil ways and accept the new life He is offering you. The Bible says “if anyone is in Christ, s(he) is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:14-17).

If you’re wondering about what to say or how to pray, you can say this simple prayer RIGHT NOW and believe it with all your heart:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I do realise that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I thank you for taking the punishment for my sins. I’m sorry for every sin I’ve committed and ask you to forgive me. Wash me with your precious blood, and make me clean within. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus. I gladly receive you as my Lord and Saviour”. Amen.

If you have prayed this simple prayer, we congratulate you, and would be glad to know about it so that we can send you some helpful literature. In the mean time, find your self a good Bible believing Church and start to attend regularly. This is the start of a brand new experience for you in God. Your old life is gone; you’re now a brand new person, a member of God’s holy family.
